Maxcretes Used to Create “Carbon Buoys” to Reduce Carbon Footprint

The Project

Running Tide is utilizing (4) 18 cubic yard Maxon Maxcretes for a Carbon Removal Project in Iceland. The Maxcrete’s design allowed Running Tide to use wheel loaders to load woodchips and cement from super sacks into the Maxcrete to be mixed together to create “Carbon Buoys“.

The “Carbon Buoys” are deployed into the North Atlantic to collect carbon dioxide and eventually sink to the bottom of the ocean. The technology accelerates the ocean’s ability to naturally remove carbon from the atmosphere. Running Tide’s project will remove up to 12,000 tons of carbon using this process.
